Able is a Certified Home Health Agency (CHHA) that offers aide services for those with Special Needs, including those with Developmental Disabilities. We are certified by the New York State Department of Health, in collaboration with the Office of People with Developmental Disabilities and are accredited by The Joint Commission. This unique CHHA offering is available to individuals residing in the five boroughs of New York City, Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
Developmental Disabilities has an impact on individuals, caregivers and communities-at-large. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) underscores it as a national priority affecting more than 61 million adults in the United States annually. At Able, we recognize the need to have access to quality health care for individuals with Special Needs in all communities.
What are Developmental Disabilities?
Developmental Disabilities are a variety of conditions, including Intellectual Disability and Developmental Disability (ID/DD), Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy and other neurological or physical impairment that becomes apparent during childhood.
Who qualifies for care from a CHHA certified in Special Needs?
Individuals diagnosed with a Developmental Disability and live in any of the five boroughs of New York City, Nassau and Suffolk counties, meet the criteria for a CHHA certified in Special Needs.
Are CHHAs certified in Special Needs covered by insurance?
Yes, CHHAs certified in Special Needs may be reimbursed by Medicaid, managed long-term care, private pay and other health insurance plans. Additionally, this service may be covered through Medicaid’s Waiver program at no cost to you
